Sicily DMC Incentives: Catania and the feast of Sant’ Agata

Sicily DMC Incentives: Catania and the feast of Sant’Agata, the most incredible religious festival in Europe Sicily DMC Incentives: Catania Sant’Agata Edition 2020. The feast of St. Agata, patron saint of Catania, is one of the most beautiful patronal feast in the world, from 3 to 5 February three days of worship, devotion, folklore, traditions. On the days of the celebrations the traditional ‘Fiera’ market of S. Agata takes place in the city. PROCESSION Every year Catania offers its patron an extraordinary feast that can be compared to the Holy Week in Seville or the Corpus Domini in Cuzco, Peru.  In those three days the city forgets everything to focus on the party, a mixture of devotion and folklore, which attracts up to a million people every year, among devotees and curious. The first day is reserved for candles. An evocative popular custom wants the donated candles to be as tall or heavy as the person asking for protection. The major religious, civil and military authorities participate in the procession for the collection of wax, a brief tour from the furnace to the cathedral. Two eighteenth-century carriages, which once belonged to the senate that governed the city, and eleven “candelore”, […]

Marzamemi, fishing village in southern Sicily – Sicily dmc incentives

Sicily DMC – Marzamemi is an ancient fishing village famous for its tonnara= tuna fishery. The small seaside town is 2 km away from Pachino, in the province of Syracuse. To reach it, you can land at Catania airport (100 km away) or at Comiso airport (75 km away). Interbus buses leave from Catania and reach Pachino. If you move by train, however, you get to Noto and from here you can take a bus. Finally, by car, you must take the Messina / Catania / Siracusa / Gela highway and exit at Noto, where the provincial road for Pachino starts (Sicily DMC- Marzamemi). It is an evocative place with its fishing soul. Its Tonnara is one of the most important in all of Sicily, and dates back to the time of Arab domination. Although in recent years the resort has focused heavily on tourism, thanks to its beautiful beach and the port equipped to dock pleasure boats, its luck is still today mainly in fish products such as bottarga and bluefin tuna belly, and wine: Nero d’Avola is produced here, one of the most famous Italian wines. Sicily Incentives – Sicily DMC: RAGUSA

Sicily Incentives – Sicily DMC: Ragusa.

SICILY DMC INCENTIVES – DESTINATION TAORMINA

SICILY DMC INCENTIVES – TAORMINA  sits across the Strait of Messina, that divides the Region of Calabria from the Island of Sicily. Mother Nature has created a masterpiece here, painting the gorgeous sea into its background. Nature also one of this area’s biggest highlights, extraordinary under a limpid sky and sitting above marine depths where another world waits to be explored. So much like a kaleidoscope of hues, the sea changes from nocturnal blue to crystalline defined by slight blue veins. One of the marvels of this sea? The Aeolian Islands: Lipari, Panarea, Salina, Stromboli, Vulcano, Filicudi and Alicudi are the seven pearls scattered over the waters facing Messina. All of volcanic origin, each contains its individual beauty and historical identity; together, they have been proclaimed a World Heritage Site. As in the past, Taormina is the main portal to Sicily. Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans and Swabians landed on its coasts and had a heavy influence on culture here and throughout the Island. By exploring the small provincial town, one can discover precious works of art in its churches and palaces, and important traces of great and faraway civilizations. Above all, Taormina, dramatically perched on a precipice (and with a […]
